SPEEDSVILLE VOL. FIRE CO., INC. MEETING MINUTES
9 OCT 2023 Called to Order at 19:00 by President Michael Kilmurray
SECRETARY’S REPORT– Leanna Morgan read the minutes from previous meeting. Motion was made to accept and approve. 1st Rick Morgan 2nd Bobby Spencer Approved by all.
TREASURER’S REPORT– Carol Leigh presented account status and list of bills for payment. Motion made to pay the bills, accept and approve accounts.1st Bobby Spencer 1st Rick Morgan Approved by all.
CHIEF’S REPORT– Fire Chief Dick Weston reported 2 fire calls (Brooktondale and Slaterville) both were cancelled enroute. 34 calls Y-T-D
1741 inventory was completed on 8 Oct. We will have hose testing on 11 Oct in Varna.
COMMITTEES:
Joe Wiiki reported that the Equalizer Tournament made a profit. Thanks to Joe & Judy Wiiki and Ed Pratt for their donations of food and help, along with Alison Lynch and Joel Sherwood.
BANQUET: Carol Leigh is still looking for a place and open date in Nov or Dec.
TRUCK: Mike and Carol have completed the NYS loan application. Mike has applied for a local grant from Tioga Downs. AFG federal grant request is being processed. Suggested to ask Adam Weitsman for a donation of steel pieces to repair or make new barbeque pits for Van Riper Park.
COMMUNICATIONS– Received a letter from FASNY, asking for donations for the Firemen’s Home Christmas ornaments. Declined to participate.
Message received from Ed Klopf, as he is resigning as Training Officer. Approved by all.
Card was sent to Edie Adams for loss of member John Adams.
APPLICATIONS of NEW MEMBERS– None
UNFINISHED BUSINESS- ESIP training notices haven’t been received in a regular manner.
Ed Klopf was getting them and then forwarding to the members. Carol will contact them to get the notifications on time.
Rick Morgan stated again, that it isn’t necessary to test the old hose in storage at the Pavilion, as we probably never use it. We have newer hose that we need to repair, that’s already in the station.
Bobby Spencer said the Caroline Highway Dept. could use it, so we’ll donate it to them.
NEW BUSINESS– None
