COMMITTEES:
Mike Kilmurray and Carol Leigh have been working on the new truck grant application. Carol showed a large stack of documents to be submitted for the application.
COMMUNICATIONS– Mike read a message from Joe Milliman (EMS Program Manager), concerning the return to masking at all Cayuga Health System properties, effective on 7 Sep 23.
APPLICATIONS of NEW MEMBERS– None
UNFINISHED BUSINESS-Thanks to Joe, Carol, Tizzy, Leanna and Rick for helping at the Horseshoe League Banquet with food preparation and serving.
Rick indicated that some updates should be made to our website and Mike now has the ability to make the changes. ( “60 years”, “any Sunday morning at station” )
Rick asked if the company had any interest in purchasing the 2 pumps and hoses, that he presented to Chief Weston at last meeting. It was decided to purchase the Predator 2” Trash Pump with a suction hose and a discharge hose for $400. He offered $100 to purchase a 20’ extension ladder, which has been stored at the pavilion, since 2009. We agreed to pay him $300. 1st Dave Bean 2nd Joe Wiiki Approved by all.
NEW BUSINESS– Rick reported on a Town of Caroline meeting, concerning a proposal to help provide improved medical responses during the daytime hours. A flycar concept would be used to provide initial EMT service to help support local rescue services. Tompkins County is applying for a grant to help fund this Countywide Shared Services Plan.
Mike was contacted by Frank Tibke about some stones alongside the station. If we remove them, then the lawn can be mowed there.
Rick indicated that he thought we shouldn’t bother with the testing of the firehoses at the pavilion, as they are old and not needed. They have been there for about 10 years, since we got them from Newfield Fire Co. We have newer LDH hoses, that can be repaired and returned to useful service.
Last event for 2023 to be held at Van Riper Park will be Joe Wiiki’s Annual Equalizer Tournament for the Horseshoe League players and their friends.
Dick Weston asked about replacing Mark Gregrow, as he resigned being a Director. It was suggested that we contact Bill Case to see if he is interested.
We will have a Budget Meeting on 11 Oct at 7 pm.
President adjourned meeting at 19:57.
