SPEEDSVILLE VOL. FIRE CO., INC. MEETING MINUTES
8 AUGUST 2022 Called to Order at 19:00 by Vice President Richard J. Morgan.
SECRETARY’S REPORT– Leanna Morgan read the minutes from previous meeting. Motion made to accept and approve. 1st Ed Klopf 2nd Joe Wiiki. Approved by all.
TREASURER’S REPORT– Carol Leigh presented account status and list of bills for payment.Motion made to pay the bills, accept and approve accounts. 1st Leanna Morgan 2nd Dick Weston. Approved by all.
CHIEF’S REPORT– Fire Chief Dick Weston reported 7 calls ( 3 MVA, 1 fire alarm, 1 wires down, 1 structure fire) Y-T-D 20 calls. Fire Chief’s meeting with Town Supervisor and Tompkins Fire Co-ordinator to be held on 30 July. Parades to be held in Newark Valley on 30 July, Trumansburg and Groton on 27 Aug, also. We will send a truck to Trumansburg. A swimming pool was filled last Tuesday for Randalls for $500.
COMMITTEES:
TURNOUT GEAR-Received Quote #21494 from 1st Out Rescue Equipment for $2365 per set (x2). Measurements to be done on 16 Aug. at 6 PM.
TRUCK REPLACEMENT– Truck committee will meet 11 Aug. with Har-Rob at 6 PM.
APPLICATIONS of NEW MEMBERS– Andrew Gilden’s -tabled for review. Caleb Harding’s- tabled for review. Zeb Patterson’s probation period is completed and he will be added to the Town of Caroline’s list for insurance purposes
COMMUNICATIONS- Horseshoe League held their John Wiiki Memorial Equalizer Tournament on Aug. 6 with 32 participants. They had 4 half-sheet pizzas (3 pepperoni and 1 cheese) and enjoyed themselves. Thanks to Joe Wiiki for planning and organizing this fine event, which raised almost $400. Ed Pratt helped provide beverages.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS- 60th Anniversary this year, going with Oct. 15th with invitation only to present and past members. Dinner to be provided by Speedsville Community Hall Association.
Horseshoe League annual banquet will be held on 10 Sept.
NEW BUSINESS– Carol is working with Doug Keefe to make a new computer purchase.
