MEETING MINUTES
Call to Order
Meeting was called to order at 19:00 by President Michael Kilmurray
Secretary’s Report
Lori Staba read January 2023 meeting minutes. The minutes from the previous meeting were
approved. (1st Ed Klopf, 2nd Dick Weston)
Treasurer’s Report
Carol Leigh reviewed the status of all accounts. All bills were paid as approved at the January
2023 meeting. Current bills were reviewed. Motion to move money from savings to checking
(1st Dick Weston, 2nd Ed Klopf) approved by all. Motion to pay bills (1st Joe Wiiki, 2nd Ed Klopf)
approved by all.
Chief’s Report
Dick Weston reported 6 calls since the last meeting – 2 fire, 2 alarms, 1 hazardous condition, 1
mva – all mutual aid. There will be no training Tuesday 2/14. Some new equipment has been
received, there is one extra XL coat. All trucks have been serviced and inspected. Annual pump
and hose testing needs to be scheduled, this is required. Ed Klopf reminded members about the
eLearning modules for blood borne pathogens and sexual harassment everyone should take.
OSHA training is scheduled for 3/11 (9am-2pm) and 3/12 (9am-noon) at Slaterville Fired station.
This is required annually.
Communications
NYSEG, Binghamton – sent letter notifying the department that we are eligible for a $1,000
grant if we have people attend a natural gas awareness program.
Letter advising on FEMA grant program received from Senator Shumer. Carol to keep with all
grant-related information.
Doug Keefe submitted a letter of resignation as an active member, after 12 years. He wants to
remain a social member.
Town Contract has been received.
There was discussion about the NYS volunteer firefighter property tax exemption (which has to
be approved by the town). This is separate from the existing tax break available currently.
Mike received a communication from LOSAP (??) and will get further details.

New Applications
No new member applications.
Old Business
Skip Williams noted that he is not in favor of the expense of a new truck and would like to see
an estimate for replacing the straps on the tanker.
New Business
Carol will be recruiting help for the pancake breakfast.
