Chief’s Report
Dick Weston reported 3 calls since the last meeting. 1/30 (White Church Rd) with 4 responding; 1/31 (Slaterville mutual aid) with 2 responding; 2/13 (mutual aid) cancelled before trucks rolled. Reminder that training is at the station every Tuesday night at 6:30PM. Please use the log book located by the computer in the truck bay to sign in and out when you are at the station for training or work details. Dick is getting quotes on turnout gear – there are 10 sets out-of-date, he recommends we start with replacing two. A rough estimate for planning purposes is $2,500/set. Radios still need to be reprogrammed.
Communications
Ed Klopf discussed the online training available through ESIP to meet the sexual harassment training requirement. It appears that our insurer requires we participate in the training offered through them on this topic.
Committees
No updates
New Applications
No new member applications. There was discussion on membership applications from Sarah Watkins and Martin Ferris. They were voted in as probationary members at a previous meeting, and their driver IDs were sent for review and approved. Since they didn’t participate in training and meetings until now, Sarah and Martin request their 6-month probationary period begins at this time (February 2022).
Old Business
Carol Leigh advised all members that because of the NYS Volunteer Firefighter Enhanced Cancer Disability Benefits Act, physical documentation records must be retained for 30 years. These are in a notebook in the fire company office.
New Business
Ed Klopf pointed out the wooden cabinet in the meeting room, where training opportunities through the county, state, or other resources will be posted for members to take advantage of. This includes information on officer training development.
Accountability Tags are needed. These are used for identification purposes. Dick and Ed are meeting with Tompkins EMS coordinator Justin Vann to discuss.
IT245 NYS Tax form for volunteer firefighters was distributed at the meeting to those who wanted it.
